Dave Grohl is recording a 25-minute instrumental track all by himself

Impressive.

Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl has revealed that he’s gearing up for the challenge of recording a 25-minute instrumental song, entirely composed and played by himself.

The Foo Fighters frontman says that he’s planning to run between a varied selection of instruments, before a recording of his efforts is later spliced together to create the 25 minute track.

“I have a studio, EastWest in LA, where I’m going to set up an expanse of instruments”, Grohl said.

“Several drum kits, a load of guitars, bass, rhythm and lead.

“I’ll hit play and the clock will start ticking. I will record the first drum part, then I will run to the next drum set and play another drum part that will record over the first.

“Then I will do the same with all the guitars, all assigned to a different moment in the instrumental…”

Explaining his methods to create the final project, Grohl added: “The best part is we’ll film everything with multiple cameras so by the end of it you will see and hear one song being played for 25 minutes, with six different Dave Grohl’s playing every note, on every single instrument, all the way through in one take.”

The project will reportedly take place when he returns home to LA in a fortnight, after a gruelling tour of the US with Foo Fighters.

The tour has seen the band inviting a whole load of fans onstage, with one youngster recently refusing to leave.

Last weekend, Grohl also collaborated with daughter Violet on a cover of Adele’s When We Were Young – with the youngster showing off some seriously impressive pipes.
