The Rock
has slammed “generation snowflake” for putting society
backwards.

The former wrestler, 46, real name Dwayne Johnson, told
the Daily
Star
that he supports free choice and expression but is unhappy
when people complain.

He said: “I don’t have to agree with what somebody thinks,
who they vote for, what they voted for, what they think, but I will
back their right to say or believe it. That’s democracy.

“So many good people fought for freedom and equality – but
this generation are looking for a reason to be offended.”

The interview references recent news stories that seemingly
adhere to the mentality of ‘generation snowflake’, including

calls for gingerbread men to be renamed gingerbread people
, and

the word ‘f****t’ to be erased from The Pogues’ song
‘Fairytale of New York’
.

The American wrestler-turned-actor, who this year stars in the
upcoming Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, added that
the world has progressed over the last 30 or 40 years,” but
“generation snowflake or, whatever you want to call them, are
actually putting us backwards.”

Johnson, who has spoken in the past about running for US
president in 2020, may have appealed to a section of the electorate
across the pond with his comments.

In July 2018, however,
he retracted such plans citing a busy schedule that would make a
campaign impossible to run
.

“It’s a position that requires years of hard work and
experience to learn the skills. There’s a lot of ground to cover,
and due to my schedule, it’s not possible in 2020.”
